Travel Q&A

Where should I stay?

We have a discount code to the Kaimana Beach Hotel which will give 15% off the normal rates. Our discount code is Tia/Will. Click this link to get to the hotel's reservation site with the promo code applied.

You're also more than welcome to find other accomodation. Please note that, due to local regulations, homes on Airbnb are not available for short term stays. There are plenty of condos and apartments available in the Waikiki and Diamond Head areas. This link is a good place to start your search for lower cost options. Any location in Honolulu should have easy access to the wedding venue via Uber or rental car.

Do I need a car?

A car is not necessary unless you're interested in activities outside of Honolulu. If you're considering renting a car we recommend checking early as prices can be high.

The Waikiki trolley is a fun hop-on hop-off transportation option that stops at many popular destinations. The Pink Line will take you from Waikiki to Ala Moana, which is our favorite beach to avoid the Waikiki crowds. There is also a huge Foodland at the Ala Moana shopping center, where we recommend buying poke.

Where should I park?

In Waikiki street parking can be difficult to find and likely metered with time restrictions. Hotels will typically charge per night for parking, so we recommend splitting one rental car with other guests who are staying at the same place as you.

At the Kaimana beach hotel parking is $40 / day and the street across from the hotel is metered with a maximum stay of 4hrs until 6pm. These meters only accept coins, not cards. Parking is free overnight between 6pm and 10am.

Street parking near the hotel across Kapiolani park on Paki Ave is free, but finding a spot is not guaranteed.

What should I wear?

Weddings in Hawaii are typically casual. It's too hot for suits and evening gowns. Instead think Hawaiian shirts and pants or light summer dresses. The wedding will be indoors overlooking the beach, not on the sand.
